Cairo University's engineering faculty ranks 149th globally according to QS, while Ain Shams and Aswan universities are internationally ranked by Times Higher Education.

Engineering Faculty Departments

Biomedical Engineering

Studies the human body from an engineering perspective, becoming a bridge between medicine and engineering — designing prosthetics, organs and medical devices capable of diagnosis and treatment.

Aerospace Engineering

Designing and building aircraft and spacecraft. Two main tracks: Aviation and air navigation engineering, and Space engineering. Also covers communications, computer, mechanical and production engineering fundamentals.

Mining, Petroleum and Metallurgical Engineering

3 tracks: Petroleum (exploration, geology, drilling, production, reservoir engineering, petroleum processing); Mining (mine sites, ore concentration, tunnels); Metallurgy (iron and steel, physical metallurgy, metal casting and protection).

Nuclear Engineering

Nuclear engineering fundamentals, reactor design and construction, radioactive materials and radiation protection, radiological diagnostics and imaging. Graduates work in nuclear reactors, research centers and medical centers.

Architectural Engineering

All aspects of construction from architectural design and structural engineering to ventilation, air conditioning, electrical installations, lighting and acoustics in buildings.

Civil Engineering

Design and analysis of civil structures: residential and service buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, airports, ports, water supply networks, sewage systems, dams and irrigation projects.

Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture

Ship study, design, construction, stability, hydrostatic and dynamic diagrams, diesel engines and electrical machines. Graduates build ships, design propellers and manage naval dockyards.

Electronics Engineering

Computer and electrical networks, electronic devices and circuits, wired and wireless signals, control systems design, mathematical representation.

Chemical Engineering

Solving chemical and biochemical production problems, designing equipment and devices, developing production methods with safe waste disposal and recycling.

Computer Engineering

Computer organization, software engineering, computer networks, industrial measurements and testing, systems engineering, automated control, artificial intelligence and its applications.

Additional Departments

Engineering mathematics and physics, Mechanical engineering, Power and electrical machines engineering, Surveying engineering, Interior design, Spinning and textile engineering.
