Cairo University is one of the most prestigious universities in the Middle East and Africa — the second oldest in Egypt and third in the Arab world after Al-Azhar and the University of Al-Qarawiyyin. Study Duration & System

  • Medicine: 5 years + 2 internship years (7 years total)
  • Dentistry & Pharmacy: 5 years + 1 internship year (6 years)

Semester 1 runs from September to January (~15 weeks). Semester 2 runs from February to June. Teaching languages: Arabic and English across most faculties, with French available in select programmes such as the Law Faculty's French-language stream.

  • Changing fields permitted after passing qualifying courses set by the department
  • Re-application permitted after two years from the previous admission
