The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST) was founded in 1972 as a regional non-profit specialised organisation under the Arab League in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme. Located in Alexandria, it is one of Egypt's most diverse academic institutions with 13 faculties and 8 specialised institutes.
