Aswan University was established as a branch of Assiut University in 1974, became part of South Valley University in 1995, then gained full independence by presidential decree in 2012. Today it comprises 18 faculties and 2 institutes spread across the main campus in Sahary Aswan and a new campus in New Aswan City.

• High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 50% for undergraduate
• Official degree equivalency from Egypt's Supreme Council of Universities
• Pass aptitude tests for faculties that require them
• For postgraduate: equivalent university qualification with Supreme Council equivalency
• All documents certified by the student's home country foreign ministry and the Egyptian embassy
• Apply from May to February of the following academic year
